CCPA grants California residents data privacy rights and control to their personal information, similar to the rights that the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) first established for European Union citizens and residents. First signed into law in mid-2018, CCPA entered the enforcement phase starting July 1, 2020. This means that the California Attorney General can now pursue enforcement actions, including issuing fines, for violations.

Does this apply to you?
Any Business which has collected personal information on California residents will be required to comply with requirements including the following consumer rights to:

  • Portability

  • Opt-out of Sale
Of personal information to third parties, with an opt-out link required on website
  • Deletion
Of personal information, with exceptions, for example when required to complete a contractual transaction, or deliver a good or service
