Leanplum Wins in VentureBeat Innovation Competition!

Two weeks ago, we competed in VentureBeat’s GrowthBeat Innovation Showdown, a competition which showcases the most promising startups in the marketing tech space. CEO and Co-founder, Momchil Kyurkchiev presented Leanplum’s recently launched mobile Marketing Automation to 500 product and marketing leaders from around the world. We are very excited to announce our win in the mid-stage company division (Series A or Series B funded) and would also like to give a shoutout to DoxIQ, which won in the early-stage division!

Winning this showdown is indicative of future success (past winners include AdMob), so we are honored to be part of the Innovation Showdown winners’ family!

Our Winning “Recipe”

Previously, mobile marketing automation was limited to the blast model, which indiscriminately targets one message to all customers. This model can easily upset users with unnecessary or irrelevant messaging. A few weeks ago, Leanplum launched Marketing Automation, which instead allows you to send highly targeted and personalized messages to users based on their behavior within your application.

On stage, Momchil demonstrated a familiar use case for marketers, shopping cart abandonment, but reimagined for the mobile app world. He –

  1. Opened an application
  2. Chose an item and added it to his shopping cart
  3. …Then, left the application without checking out

Momchil proceeded to show how a marketer can use Leanplum as an integrated marketing solution to –

  1. Send a highly personalized push notification to the customer with a reminder about the abandoned cart
  2. Set up an A/B test that compares sending a push notification to not sending one
  3. Compare the results of the A/B test to see whether or not the notification made an impact in customer abandonment, core metrics, and revenue
